Communicating through Lyrics again
[info]jdahlin
To follow the long tradition of this blog I will continue to communicate using lyrics.
This is a message to someone which won't be named, but you know who you are.
Take care!

Hold up
Hold on
Don't be scared,
You'll never change what's been and gone
May your smile, (may your smile)
Shine on, (shine on)
Don't be scared, (don't be scared)
Your destiny may keep you warm,

'Cause all of the stars,
Have faded away
Just try not to worry,
You'll see them someday,
Take what you need,
And be on your way and
Stop crying your heart out

Get up, (get up)
Come on, (come on)
Why you scared? (I'm not scared)
You'll never change what's been and gone

'Cause all of the stars,
Have faded away
Just try not to worry,
You'll see them some day,
Take what you need,
And be on your way and
Stop crying your heart out

'Cause all of the stars,
Have faded away
Just try not to worry,
You'll see them someday.
Just take what you need,
And be on your way and
Stop crying your heart out

We're all of the stars,
We're fading away.
Just try not to worry,
You'll see us someday.
Just take what you need,
And be on your way and
Stop crying your heart out...
Stop crying your heart out...
Stop crying your heart out...
Stop crying your heart out...

Fireside - Lyrics
[info]jdahlin
This song was chose, more or less unconsciously, I never paid too much attention to its lyrics.
But perhaps it's actually how I do feel, who know?

Don't come close to me,
I won't let you in
And don't you point your finger
That proves that your not housebroken
Maybe I'm the one to blame
Correcting you for what you said
But you came much too close
And I don't want you to think like that

When I keep to myself
Its because I know that I don't have
anything to offer you

I can't keep up with my life,
Too much, too fast
I don't know what to do
I need some time to clear my mind and get it back together
I'm amazed by things you say
And things you do along the way
And if I have the looks you do then maybe I could do that too
But I don't think so

Once in a while, I need to hear that I'm OK
Why can't you tell me that I'm OK?

Movie game

(stolen from http://marnanel.livejournal.com/1071928.html)

1) Every film on IMDB has plot keywords. Choose three films (that people might have heard of) and click "plot keywords" in the left-hand menu to see their keywords.
2) Post the keywords on your journal. I recommend the use of the "small" tag.
3) Invite people to guess what they are. Looking them up in IMDB is cheating.
4) If you like, post it in your own journal. Post a link in it to here if you like, too.
5) If you like, come back here to post a link to your own post so that people who like playing this game can track this post and follow through to yours.

Istället för ljud
[info]jdahlin
[This is mainly for my swedish speaking audience, don't complain, I never defined a language norm]

The rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated
[info]jdahlin
I'm still here in Brazil and I'm doing well. For these of you back home that are worried about me, just relax.
There was a horrible flight disaster at the Congonhas airport in São Paulo yesterday evening, a flight from Porto Alegre attempted to land on a rainy runaway but couldn't make it, passed a 6-lane street and crashed into a building and exploded.

In May 2006 I went to FISL in Porto Alegre, taking off and landing at the same airport, to the same city with the same airline company. In retrospect, I'm very happy it wasn't raining.

There's something in this song that touches me, something happened to this song when I was young. It was released in the summer of 1989, when I was still 7 years old. It's one of my first musical memories. I didn't understand English well back then, but even to this day the strings has a certain impact on me. Perhaps I danced with that girl at the school dance to this song. Can't remember. Meanwhile I'll listen to it while I attempt to remember.

Vintervila
[info]jdahlin
Hon sjunger kärlekssånger för min hud
Hennes tunga skriver mjuka melodier
på ett ungt bröst där håret börjat växa
först nu

Ännu är det vinter
och den stora vita björnen ligger kvar
den har lagt sig över asfalten och husen
Jag hoppas att den inte ger sig av
Så vi kan ligga kvar

Refr.

Vi pratar om varandra
Jag låter mina tankar vandra
Hon är tyst och bara andas
i ett litet ögonblick

Hon bläddrar förstrött bland mina skivor
ler och sätter på "Here comes the sun"
Det enda som rört sig här är tiden
Och klockan klämtar för vårt ide

Någon spelar på ett piano ovanför
en haltande, klumpig Für Elise
Hon dansar runt som för att visa att hon hör
Jag älskar allt hon gör

Refr.

playing my game
[info]jdahlin
won't open my mouth
you know what i'll say
it hurts me that it's gotta be this way
i can no longer hide
god knows i've tried
i held on as long as i could
if i could change it i would
this is the way i am
and this is what i do

i cry my tears
but they're not for you
playing a game
i know you've done too
i shouldn't have waited
but still it is all the same
'cause you know
i'm just playing my game

close your ears if you don't like
the sound of my voice
you're acting like i
like i had a choice
but to leave you behind
well, i've made up my mind

i cry my tears
but they're not for you
playing a game
i know you've done too
i shouldn't have waited
but still it is all the same
'cause you know
i'm just playing my game

don't hld me with your eyes
the light in them i cannot see
no need to blind me
there's this darkness where i walk
you thought you had your future
all figured out

i cry...

i cry my tears
but they're not for you
playing a game
i know you've done too
i shouldn't have waited
but still it is all the same
'cause you know
i'm just playing my game

i'm playing my game

Weekend
[info]jdahlin
Saturday morning, I get a call about 10 from Kiko telling me that we're going to a bike competition Minas, as I didn't have any particular plans for the weekend I gladly agreed. Kiko, Fabia and I left São Carlos around noon to head for Campinas where we switched cars and company to Texeira and his friend. Texeira has apparently won the brazilian championship in bicycling (road bike and mountain) 3 times, but it was a couple of years ago, he's in his 40 but is still a very strong biker, amazing.

In the morning I've found out that the place we're heading for is called Borda de Mata and is very close to Pouso Alegre where my friend Ellen lives. I was quick to tell her that I was going to show up there in the evening and while she couldn't manage to get there before the night we agreed to meet early in the morning after she finished her shift at the hospital, she's studying to become a doctor there and is graduating this year.

We arrived at Borda around 6 o'clock. Borda is a very typical small city of Minas, its difficult to describe in words, but the houses has a special look to them, it looks much better than cities in São Paulo. However we had no place to stay during the night. The official "hotel" of the bike competition was unfortunately already filled up. Or fortunately perhaps because the hotel we eventually found was apparently a lot better. We sorted out the sleeping problem and headed out to find something to eat. The first thing we noticed was that people were preparing for a corn party at the main plaza in the city.
Unfortunately for our stomachs it hadn't quite started so we went for a mini-pizza and açai with condensed milk, yummy! Eventually the party would start so we headed over there to get some yummy food made out of Corn. I'm not actually sure how to describe what we got, but one of the things were small parcels with a sweet substance made of milk wrapped in corn leaves, the other one is called "pastel" and is the size of a small taco but softer and with cheese filling inside. Yum.

At dawn we woke up to have breakfast and I realized that Borda is very cold! It was maybe 8 degrees, eventually it would be much warmer, but the morning was horrible! The race started in the same praca where they had a fruit and vegetable market in the morning. The race started and shortly afterwards Ellen arrived and we quickly tried to found how to arrive in Tocos de Mogi which was the first "post" during the race. It turned out that the quickest was was to follow the actual route where Kiko and the other bikers actually went. It's not ideal for a car, especially not one with out a 4-wheel drive. As we continued to drive we'd see the magnificent country side and once in a while a biker.
Most of the participants were already walking with their bikes in the beginning, you'd have to remember that we're almost no flat parts of the course, only uphills and downhills. Eventually we'd reach Kiko and two other bikers in the camp. It turned out that they went much faster than we dared to do by car downhills, it was only thanks to the uphills we could catch up at all. It was a great moment, sitting in a car talking to Ellen and following the race from a close range. After about 4 hours we'd reach the end station which is called Paraisópolis and is a little bit larger than the other towns but still beautiful. Kiko finished in 2nd place and Texeira in 4th, we'd have to wait hours for the rest of the bikers to arrive so the prize ceremony could happen.
Ellen had to leave a little bit earlier so she could sleep a little bit before going on to a 24h hospital shift. I can't really understand how she can stand only sleeping 2 hours per day and still manage to stay awake and focused.

At night we were in a little bit of a rush to get back to Campinas so we could get a bus back to São Carlos. It took a little bit longer than we originally anticipated but that probably wouldn't matter anyway. It turned out all buses to all nearby towns were filled since a long time ago.
After some fiddling we took a bus to Jáu and jump off a couple of kilometers before São Carlos. So we did and Gui finally came and picked us up.

Great weekend, I have to start training (eg, wake up early in the morning to go biking) so I can participate in these races.

I actually did, this morning (tuesday) I took off to go with Kiko on the road, I did about 70 kilometers, the last 15 very slowly, but I arrived in the end and showed up in the office at 11.

Moon eclipse
[info]jdahlin
We've been enjoying full moon the last couple of days, which made me think of the this picture which I took during the last moon eclipse a couple of months ago:
